Notes by the artists.
In one of the first meetings we had, the term IP-number, came up. In many
of our projects we have adopted systems from for instance Dutch Railways to
steer our work, so this IP-number was a good starting point.
We are used to make works that last long in time. Now we were confronted with
a medium that has limitations in capacity if you want to keep it fast. So
we decided to make a library, containing samples of animations and sounds,
that the IP-number chooses from.
The samples are all related to our work, but the site is meant to be an artistic
work in its own right.
It was very strange for us to work with these short lengths of time. Normally
when we make a work, the materials that we use are in the same time the image.
Now we had to look at this differently. You might say, that we had to reconsider
our work. Of course we didn't succeed, since we only had one month, but still
it was very interesting.
We learned alot from this project, and in some ways it will change our attitude
towards our activities. On the other hand it was quite easy for us to have
a smart guy like Thomas beside us, whom we could ask to do or try things that
would cost us forever, and see them done within minutes.
